How is age calculated in years, months and days?
Count the whole years from the birth date to the last birthday, then the whole months from that birthday, then the days left. For May 15, 1990 and October 11, 2026: the last birthday was May 15, 2026 (36 years), four whole months later is September 15, and 26 days after that is October 11.
How old is someone born on 29 February?
In years without a 29th of February the birthday has to be placed on 28 February or 1 March, and countries and organisations do not all choose the same. We did not find one rule to cite, so the calculator uses 28 February and lets you switch to 1 March. A birthday on the real 29th of February happens every 4 years, with the usual exception for century years.
How many days old am I?
The total of days lived is the plain difference between the two dates. For May 15, 1990 to October 11, 2026 it is 13,298 days, which is 1,899 weeks. The calculator also shows the total months and weeks and the weekday you were born on.
Is my birth date stored or sent anywhere?
No. It stays in the page while it is open: it is not written to the address bar, to your browser storage or to any server, and it disappears when you close or reload the page.

How do I find my age on a past or future date?
Use the second date field. It defaults to today, but you can set any date, for example to see how old someone was at a past event or will be at a future one.
How many days until my next birthday?
The result shows the date of your next birthday, the weekday and the days left, and tells you when today is the birthday.
Does age count the day of birth?
The birth day itself is day 0. A person is 1 day old on the day after birth, and turns 1 year old on the first birthday.
How many months old am I?
Total months is the years times 12 plus the months since the last birthday. Born May 15, 1990, the example is 36 years and 4 months old, which is 436 months.
Can I use it for legal age?
Use it as a guide. The age that matters for voting, driving, retirement or school entry is set by the rules of the country or the organisation, and some count differently around leap days.

This page uses plain calendar arithmetic, so there is no outside source to cite. The method is described above, and the tests behind it were checked against independent calculations.
Not confirmed: Which date a 29 February birthday falls on in a common year is decided differently in different places, and we did not open an official source for it. The calculator lets you choose 28 February or 1 March.
