How do you calculate the days between two dates?
Turn each date into a running count of days and subtract the earlier one from the later one. This calculator works on calendar days only, with no time zone and no daylight saving time, so the answer never shifts by an hour into the wrong day. The start day is counted and the end day is not, which is the same as subtracting the dates: October 11, 2026 to December 25, 2026 is 75 days.
Is the end date included in the count?
Not unless you tick the box. Subtracting dates counts the days that pass after the start day, so the same date twice gives 0. Tick "Count the end date too" when both the first and the last day belong to the period, such as a hotel stay priced by the day or a range written "from the 11th to the 25th inclusive". The same two dates then give 76.
How many days are between two dates in different years?
The tool adds the 29th of February whenever the range crosses one. December 25, 2026 to December 25, 2027 is 365 days, but December 25, 2027 to December 25, 2028 is 366, because 2028 is a leap year. February 1 to March 1 is 28 days in 2026 and 29 days in 2028.
How do you count only the weekdays between two dates?
The result panel splits the range into weekdays (Monday to Friday) and weekend days. October 11, 2026 to December 25, 2026 has 54 weekdays and 21 weekend days. Public holidays are not removed here. For that, use the business days calculator, where you pick a US or UK holiday list.
How do you turn days into weeks, months and years?
Weeks are whole sevens plus what is left: 75 days is 10 weeks and 5 days. Months and years follow the calendar, because months have different lengths. The tool adds whole months to the start date for as long as it stays on or before the end date, then counts the days left over: October 11, 2026 plus 2 months is December 11, and 14 more days reach December 25.
Worked example: counting by hand
Count the days in each month between the two dates. From October 11, 2026 to December 25, 2026, add the pieces and you get the same 75 days the calculator shows.

Questions about counting days between dates
How many days are in a year?
A common year has 365 days and a leap year has 366. A year is a leap year when it divides by 4, except century years, which must divide by 400: 2028 is a leap year, 2100 is not, and 2000 was.
How many days until Christmas?

How do I find the date that is 100 days from now?
Open the add or subtract days calculator, leave the start date on today and type 100 in the days box. It also adds weeks, months and years.
Does the calculator use my time zone?
No. It reads your calendar date once, to fill in today, and from then on works with plain dates. Two people in different time zones who type the same two dates always get the same count.
How many weeks are between two dates?
Divide the number of days by 7. The calculator shows the whole weeks and the days left over, for example 10 weeks and 5 days instead of 75 days.
Are the dates I enter saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. The dates only appear in the page address so that you can copy the link and send the same view to someone else.
Sources and limits
This page uses plain calendar arithmetic, so there is no outside source to cite. The method is described above, and the tests behind it were checked against independent calculations.
Not confirmed: The leap-year rule used here (a year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except century years not divisible by 400) is stated without an official source: we did not open one. It is checked in the tests against .NET’s calendar over four centuries.
